Open Computer Lab (In-Person) from 12:00pm-1:15pm. Learn more and register
 at https://nova.libcal.com/event/12096848. \n\n \n\nFamilySearch.org and
Ancestry.com are the two big giants in the world of genealogy. But do you
really need to use both of them? Let’s put both websites to the test and
show what each has to offer.\n\n\n\nTamara Hallo is a professional
genealogist with a Master of Library Science degree and over 25 years of
experience as an educator. She holds a certificate of genealogical research
from Boston University and has completed ProGen\, an 18-month professional
genealogy study program. Her credentials include the Advanced Genealogical
Methods and Public Speaking courses at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy
Academy for Professionals\, the Fundamentals of Hispanic Genealogical
Research\, Writing and Publishing for Genealogists\, and Beginning DNA
courses at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research\, and Law
School for Genealogists at the Genealogical Research Institute of
Pittsburgh. A resident of South Florida\, Tamara served as immediate past
president of the Genealogical Society of Greater Miami.\n\nTamara writes\,
“I embarked on my journey to become a professional genealogist more than
15 years ago after finding a binder full of family history that was given
to my mom by her great aunt. I was immediately hooked and picked up
researching where she left off. Throughout the years\, I have focused on
discovering and sharing the stories of my ancestors\, all the while
realizing that I am the person I am today because of their story…their
 trials\, tribulations\, happiness\, resilience\, determination\, and
strength. Researching their lives has led to discovering my roots in
 Florida\, Georgia\, Alabama\, Tennessee\, Texas\, Arkansas\, New
 Hampshire\, North Carolina\, Maryland\, Arizona\, Pennsylvania\, Canada\,
 England\, Scotland\, and Sweden.”\n\nGSBC members have enjoyed Tamara’s
past presentations\, and we welcome her back.\n\n\nThe Genealogical Society
of Broward County (GSBC) meets monthly\non the first Sunday of every month
except when there is a holiday.\n\nWe are here to help you find your
ancestors.\n\nVisit www.gsbcfl.org for more information about
GSBC.\n\nMeetings are free and open to the public.
