Open Computer Lab (In-Person) from 12:00pm-1:15pm. Learn more and register
 at https://nova.libcal.com/event/11789006. \n\nFor most of recorded time\,
women didn't leave much of a paper trail\, but they still had remarkable
stories to tell. Although it may appear that they haven't left any
documents behind\, deeper research into underutilized records will often
lead to a better understanding of the women in our family trees. In this
talk\, we'll explore a variety of records\, and also look at local
history\, the law\, politics\, and the cataclysmic events that confronted
them to help us bring their hidden stories to light.\n\n\n\nPam Vestal is a
professional genealogist in Portland\, Oregon\, offering her services
through Generations Genealogy\, Specializing in Family History Research and
Biography. She has published articles in the National Genealogical Society
Magazine\, The Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly\, and the
FGS Forum. Her ongoing genealogical training has taken Pam all over the
United States for conferences\, intensive classes and workshops\, and for
research. A member of the Association of Professional Genealogists\, she
finds that belonging to a variety of genealogical and historical
organizations enhances the quality of her work.\n\nPam writes\; “I
entered the field of genealogy after a twenty-year career as a professional
writer. My interest in family history began when my daughter grew curious
about her father's side of the family. With little information to go on\, I
set off to discover what I could. Before long\, I was hooked. What started
as a hobby became more serious when a woman who was recovering from a
devastating family tragedy asked for my help. She hoped that learning more
about her ancestors would be healing\, and thankfully\, it did turn out to
be helpful.\n\nPam Vestal has been a regular speaker to our Society and a
GSBC member favorite!\n\n\nThe Genealogical Society of Broward County
(GSBC) meets monthly\non the first Sunday of every month except when there
is a holiday.\n\nWe are here to help you find your ancestors.\n\nVisit
www.gsbcfl.org for more information about GSBC.\n\nMeetings are free and
 open to the public.
