EVAN JAMES is the author of the personal essay collection I’ve Been Wrong Before and the novel Cheer Up, Mr. Widdicombe. His essays have appeared in The New York Times, Oxford American, Travel + Leisure, and many other publications, and he has taught at The University of Iowa, Victoria University of Wellington, The Center for Fiction, and the Berlin Writers' Workshop.
