The Wonderful World of Picture Books: Writing for Children Ages Three to Eight with Elissa Haden Guest (online event)

The Wonderful World of Picture Books: Writing for Children Ages Three to Eight with Elissa Haden Guest (online event) In-Person

Picture books can be humorous, profound, and illuminating. They captivate children’s imaginations, expand, and enrich their worlds and validate their emotions. In this one-hour workshop, we’ll use engaging writing prompts to tap into the past and revisit our early childhood experiences. We’ll focus on universal themes that pique children’s interests, including family, friendship, separation, and independence.

ELISSA HADEN GUEST is the author of numerous books including Baby Builders and the award-winning Iris and Walter series. She holds an MFA in Children’s Literature from Hollins University and teaches classes in writing for children at College of Marin Community Education and Stanford Continuing Studies. An avid reader, Elissa especially loves sharing books with her little grandsons (although the younger currently prefers eating books to reading them).
