Creating Settings that Sizzle with Nancy J. Cohen

Creating Settings that Sizzle with Nancy J. Cohen In-Person

Do you want readers to close your book with a sense of disappointment that they’re leaving your fictional world behind? Regardless of what time period your story takes place, you’ll want the scenes to come alive for the reader. What kinds of details can provide this experience? In this workshop, award-winning author Nancy J. Cohen will discuss what type of research you’ll need, how to build your society in a unique fashion, and what specific elements you’ll want to include. Examples from different genres will be offered. You’ll come away with a checklist of items that will help you set your story in a memorable universe of your own.

Nancy J. Cohen writes the Bad Hair Day Mysteries featuring South Florida hairstylist Marla Vail. Titles in this series have been named Best Cozy Mystery by Suspense Magazine, won a Readers' Favorite gold medal and a RONE Award, placed first in the Chanticleer International Book Awards, and third in the Arizona Literary Awards. Her instructional guide, Writing the Cozy Mystery, was an Agatha Award finalist, won a gold medal in the President’s Book Awards, and earned first place in the Royal Palm Literary Awards. When not busy writing, Nancy enjoys cooking, fine dining, cruising, visiting Disney World, and shopping. Visit her at NancyJCohen.com for more information about her books.
