About the Event
Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage month with a lively literary discussion led by Professor Reina Barreto. She will lead the discussion based on the reading "Estás Invitado y" (“You’re Invited and”) by Carlos Cumpián.
In his poem, Cumpián invites us to celebrate Latino American culture through larger-than-life characters, culinary delights, and lyrical language. Cumpián, a Chicano writer, is the author of the poetry collections Coyote Sun (1990), Armadillo Charm (1996), and 14 Abriles (2010), as well as the children's book Latino Rainbow: Poems About Latino Americans (1995, illustrated by Richard Leonard).
Please read ahead to get the most out of the discussion. The title is located in our Latino Literature database found at this link: https://sherman.library.nova.edu/auth/index.php?aid=683
You will need your Alvin Sherman Library card credentials to view.
Professor Barreto teaches Spanish, Humanities, and Latin American history at NSU. She has a Ph.D. in Latin American literature.
