Personal Essay Writing In-Person

 

                                         

 

 

This one-hour workshop is for anyone looking to become a better writer or storyteller or just to figure out where you are. All participants should come prepared to write and share. Students will be given a prompt meant to unearth what’s lingering below. Stories will be workshopped. You’ll walk away with tips for how to make every story better. This class is for beginners and seasoned writers.

ANDREA ASKOWITZ is a storytelling missionary and believes stories will heal the world. She’s the author of the memoir My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy, and the editor of Badass: True Stories, the Double Album. Her stories have appeared in publications including The New York Times, Salon, The Rumpus, xoJane, Brain, Child, FourTwoNine, Mutha, AEON, and The Writer, and have aired on NPR and PBS.

ALLISON LANGER is a Miami native, University of Miami MBA, writer, and a single mom to three children, ages 10, 13, and 15. She is a private writing coach, teaches memoir writing in prison, and has been published in The Washington Post, Mutha Magazine, Scary Mommy, Ravishly, Modern Loss, She‘Said’ and 50GS Magazine.
