Topic: Beyond Databases: How Technology is Changing Genealogy

Genealogy databases are an essential starting point for research, but are you using other important tools that technology is opening up? Videos, Blogs, genealogy software, podcasts, online courses, and webinars offer crucial instructional methods for upping your game. Additionally, DNA, AI, listserves, and global family trees can directly aid your ancestral discovery.

Speaker: Mark Fearer has been a professional genealogist since 2007 although he has been pursuing family history since the early 1980s. He specializes in Jewish genealogy while also providing services to many non-Jewish clients. Mark’s background as a journalist provides him with additional investigative and writing skills that contribute towards accurate and compelling reports. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, and several local genealogical societies.  In addition to his genealogy research services through Ancestraldiscovery.com, Mark teaches classes and consults and writes about genealogy. GSBC members with a long memory will remember Mark from when he served as our president in 2018 and VP in 2015-17. Mark now lives in Boulder, Colorado.
