Precision medicine affords healthcare providers the opportunity to personalize care guided by a patient’s unique genomic profile.  A one-size-fits-all approach to patient care is slowly becoming obsolete, with oncology and pharmacogenomics being examples of how precision medicine can improve outcomes by specifically addressing the uniqueness of each patient.  By employing new technology, such as next-generation sequencing, patients can be matched with the latest innovative treatments.  In oncology, profiling each patient’s tumor allows us to better target the molecular drivers responsible for tumorigenesis, while mitigating the side effects common to traditional chemotherapeutics.  These methodologies provide physicians with actionable data that enable them to develop effective treatment plans for their patients.

About the Presenter

Kyle Roebuck is a molecular genomics specialist at Memorial Healthcare System and adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University.  He received his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and his Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University.  As a molecular genomics specialist, he leverages tumor genomic data to match cancer patients with the latest and most innovative treatments in a personalized approach to patient care.  He is a native of South Florida and an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Society for Health Systems.
