Navigating the Seven Cs of Scene Writing with Dorian Cirrone (Online)
Whether your project has five scenes or fifty, each scene should grow from the previous one to create a well-structured and compelling story, no matter what you're writing. In this hands-on workshop we’ll look at exactly what scenes are and examine the components necessary to engage readers and move your story forward. If you have scenes from a work in progress, have them ready to revise. If not, bring an idea you might want to include in a future project so you can begin to craft a captivating scene.
DORIAN CIRRONE, a former journalist, has published novels, short stories, poems, and nonfiction for children, teens, and adults. Her middle-grade novel, The First Last Day (published by Simon & Schuster), won a Florida Book Award gold medal and was translated into four languages. School Library Journal called it, “A heartfelt novel loaded with wonderful character development.” Her young adult novel, Dancing in Red Shoes Will Kill You (published by HarperCollins), was an American Library Association Popular Paperback for Young Adults and a New York Public Library Best Books for the Teen Age. She holds an M.A. in English and has taught writing on the university level as well as at numerous conferences and workshops. She is currently writing a psychological suspense novel and is hard at work following her own advice as she revises her scenes.
